The project begins with a trial and pilot implementation of Powerline communications in Accra, the capital of Ghana. The second phase will be a commercial roll out of the broadband infrastructure within the country.
This will be followed by a gradual extension of operations into West, East and Southern Africa towards the creation of a seamless and integrated broadband network throughout sub-Saharan Africa.
The development of African trade, of improved education, of better governance and of social connectivity all depend on the establishment of such a communications infrastructure. The need is now for an affordable, viable, empowering solution.
Cactel and its strategic partners will build, own and operate this broadband network to facilitate the distribution of services such as telephony and data traffic, video and television on demand and other multi-media services. A comprehensive team of telecommunications and network engineers will support the network from various country and regional centres. They will be backed by a specialised management and monitoring system to maintain efficiency and high standards of service delivery.
Cactel will generate revenue by offering bandwidth capacity and connectivity to service providers in the Telecommunications, Internet, and TV and Video-on-Demand markets. This revolutionary communications infrastructure will increase the current liberalisation of services in the market and increase the availability of telecommunications services to customers at competitive prices with a guaranteed quality of service.
